Triga Chardonnay is an exceptional white wine crafted from hand-selected grapes and fermented in French oak barrels. Sourced from a unique setting in the Sierra de Salinas, this wine, with Protected Designation of Origin (D.O.P.) Alicante, stands out for its complexity, freshness, and personality.
The Chardonnay grapes used for Triga come from three privileged sites: the Sierra de Salinas, the Sierra de Umbría, and the Sierra de la Sima, located at an altitude of 700 metres. The soils are poor and shallow, predominantly composed of limestone and fragments of pure chalk, giving the wine its distinctive minerality and vibrant structure.
The climate is Mediterranean with continental influences, creating a unique microclimate. This, combined with sustainable dry farming and the exclusive use of organic fertilisers, results in very low yields — around 2 kg per vine — enhancing the concentration and quality of the fruit.
Harvesting is carried out manually at the end of August, using small crates to preserve the integrity of the grapes. The must is fermented in 225-litre French oak barrels, where the wine remains on its lees for several months.
Lees stirring (batonage) is performed regularly:
Twice per week during the first 2 months,
Once per week over the following 4 months,
And every 15 days during the final 2 months.
This process adds creaminess, complexity, and structure, while maintaining the freshness and varietal expression of the Chardonnay
To the eye, it displays a bright, pale golden and dense colour. On the nose, it opens with notes of yellow flowers, dried fruits, and a delicate saline background. On the palate, it is broad, smooth, and well-balanced, with well-integrated acidity and a long, persistent finish that reflects its origin and the care taken in its production.
