The Macallan Edition No.6 is inspired by the breathtaking landscapes surrounding the distillery
Inspired by the environment where each barrel of The Macallan is matured before being selected one by one and by hand by our masters, The Macallan Edition No.6 is born. This is a very special place, where the whisky maturing process, agriculture and nature coexist in perfect harmony.
At The Macallan you are privileged to have the legendary Rio Spey majestically watering your land. A river renowned by the world as the home of the Atlantic Salmon. During the fishing season, under the expert eyes of Robert Mitchell, one of the world's foremost professional fishermen, only a lucky few can demonstrate their skills and catch, and subsequently release, an Atlantic Salmon.
The Macallan Whisky Maker, Steven Bremner, wanted to celebrate this unique experience by taking inspiration from a day's fishing on the Spey River. The vibrant blue colour of the water reflects with the sky, the calm of nature, and the strength of the Scottish Salmon jumping into the crystal clear waters.
The Atlantic Salmon has become an endangered species. Therefore, The Macallan is working with The Atlantic Salmon Trust to help raise awareness of this and support the conservation of the Spey River and its species.

The Whisky
Macallan Edition No.6 is inspired by the natural surroundings of our distillery with much to offer and enjoy; in particular the vibrant Rio Spey that borders our land. Whisky, in itself, has a lot to offer. The natural colour to aged brass comes from the very staves of our barrels which give it a wealth of flavours and aromas. Aromas of fresh fruit, nutmeg, ginger, chocolate, toffee and vanilla blend with the oak to create a taste of ripe plum, sweet orange and cinnamon. Finishes with a spicy fresh fruit and creamy chocolate flavour followed by notes of toasted oats.
