In the midst of a spectacular Levantine landscape, the vineyards of the Monastrell, Riesling and Syrah varietals are located, which together with the modern facilities, make up Bodegas Monóvar, one of the most prestigious wine cellars in the province of Alicante. 

Between the walls of Bodegas Monóvar you can breathe a lot of history and uniqueness.

Its interior treasures the hundred-year-old monovar casks of an authentic oenological jewel of the Alicante Denomination of Origin: the famous Fondillón de Alicante wine, which due to its volume, tradition and quality is the oldest and most prestigious existing of a unique wine with a long reputation as a singular wine with more than five centuries of history.
The mythical Fondillón de Alicante, one of the few wines with a Royal Designation of Origin, achieved great renown worldwide under the name of Alicante wine, as demonstrated by numerous references from, among others, Shakespeare, Dumas, Azorín, Dostoyevski and Defoe. However, the phylloxera crisis at the end of the 19th century meant that it practically disappeared from the market.

Guaranteeing the protection of Alicante's oenological heritage

With the acquisition of the 75 barrels of Fondillón Alicante that make up these reserves and another 23 barrels of the special edition known as Fondillón Sacristía, MGWines is committed to preserving and ensuring the continuity of one of the most historic and exclusive products of this designation of origin.

Borrasca 

Selection of only the best bunches at the entrance of the winery. Traditional fermentation in stainless steel tanks of only 2,500kg. Prolonged but gentle maceration. Malolactic fermentation in the barrels. Aging for 14 months in 400L French oak barrels. It is a harvest that was very good climatically. Average high temperatures and very low rainfall. One of the most balanced years in the rainy season. Harvest without incidents, a great year to produce great wines.
