More information Fondillon Bodegas Brotons Solera Reserve 1964 Wine
Gran Reserva 1964 keeps alive the essence of Alicante's Fondillón, the Wine of Kings.
This winery was founded in 1950 by Don Francisco Brotons Alfonso and has been passed down from generation to generation until the present day.
In the 1950s the winery already had a capacity of 200,000 litres and after restructuring in 1990 this capacity was increased to 400,000 litres.

Dedicated from its beginnings to the elaboration of bulk (Vats, Carafes, Barrels...) in the 90s it had to decide between continuing with its activity of always or taking alternative ways (Modernization of the warehouse) to obtain quality wines.
The modernization of the winery resulted in stainless steel tanks with temperature control, oak barrels, pipes and machinery in stainless steel were the protagonists of this transformation and went from bulk to the production of single-variety wines ( Syrah, Merlot, Tempranillo and Monastrell), as well as the Coupages of Syrah-Merlot, Syrah-Monastrell.
In spite of the modernization of its facilities, the traditional character of the wines of Alicante was not wanted to be renounced, since it was one of the keys to obtain a product stars as it is the Fondillón 1964 or the Fondillón 1970 of the variety monastrell.
As a result of all this, recognition in the sector and some awards were not long in coming, especially for its young, crianza, reserva and gran reserva wines.
This winery occupies an area of 10,000 square meters with all kinds of innovations.
It is made entirely by hand using the traditional methods of treading the grapes and pressing them by hand, the only systems known when this gran reserva was made. Grapes from the oldest vineyards were selected in order to achieve the special bouquet that distinguishes it from any other wine.
