Fondillón Laudum Revives a Centuries-Old Tradition in Crafting Alicante's Historic Luxury Wine
This is the wine that Alexandre Dumas describes in his book *The Count of Monte Cristo* (Chapter LV), where the Count offers Major Cavalcanti, a connoisseur of fine wines, the choice between a glass of Sherry, Port, or Alicante. The Major responds: "Alicante is my favourite wine."
Since the 1970 harvest, and only in years of severe drought and challenging viticulture, BOCOPA’s winemakers have carefully selected and over-ripened the finest Monastrell grapes. Through natural fermentation, they produce this noble Alicante wine, aged over time in old oak barrels.
The result of this meticulous ageing process is the magnificent Fondillón Laudum, with its unique harmony and exotic flavour, slightly sweetened. Undoubtedly, it is one of the finest dessert wines in the world.
This recognition has been affirmed by the European Union, which has included it in its catalogue of luxury wines.
Perfect to serve with appetizers such as blue cheeses, cured fish, and nuts, as well as desserts like pastries, chocolate, and nougat. An excellent companion for extended table conversations.
