Biography

Juan Diego Artigas is a specialist in wines, spirits and alcoholic beverages with more than 25 years of experience in the industry. Since the mid-1990s, he has developed his professional career in the trade and distribution of premium beverages, working directly with wineries, distilleries, importers and producers from around the world.

In 2004, he founded Licorea.com, one of Spain’s longest-established online stores specialising in wines, spirits and liqueurs. Over more than two decades, he has been involved in the selection, marketing and evaluation of thousands of products from the leading producing regions of Europe, the Americas and Asia.

Since 2005, he has managed and edited Licorea.es, a specialised publication where he writes about industry news, brand history, production methods, alcoholic beverage culture, consumer trends and new product launches. His articles are based on years of hands-on experience working closely with producers, distributors and knowledgeable consumers.

His expertise covers categories such as Scotch whisky, bourbon, Japanese whisky, Caribbean rum, gin, tequila, mezcal, vodka, brandy, cognac, traditional liqueurs, wines and sparkling wines, as well as the evolution of e-commerce within the alcoholic beverages sector.

Today, he continues to lead both Licorea.com and Licorea.es, combining business management with specialist publishing focused on the world of wines and spirits.

Licorea story

Licorea was founded in 2004 with the aim of bringing a wide selection of wines, spirits and premium beverages to enthusiasts through the internet, at a time when specialised e-commerce was still in its early stages in Spain.

From the very beginning, the project has focused on offering carefully selected products from both national and international producers, combining an extensive catalogue with detailed information about each product to help consumers discover new brands and categories.

Over more than two decades of activity, Licorea has added thousands of products from some of the world's most renowned producing regions, including Scotch and Irish whiskies, Caribbean rums, Mexican tequilas, gin, traditional liqueurs and wines from numerous appellations of origin.

At the same time, in 2005, Licorea.es was launched as a specialist editorial platform dedicated to sharing news, industry developments, brand histories, production methods and content related to the culture of alcoholic beverages.

Today, Licorea continues to operate as a specialist e-commerce business, maintaining the commitment to education and industry knowledge that has been part of the project since its inception.
