Following the 2001 vintage, this 2004 vintage showed promise in 2015, but the casks were held back and matured in 100% new American Oak Sherry casks for a further 18 months. Using experimental casks means that the distillery is constantly learning about the maturation of the Glenrothes spirit. This together with the understanding of the aromas and tastes derived from different woods –American and Spanish- and cask selection lead them into new territory and has resulted in achieving an even greater ‘classic’ expression than anticipated. This is another ‘must-try’ Glenrothes Vintage which makes it into the ‘relaxing conversational’ style – seriously profound and exemplifying all the characteristics of the Glenrothes Single Malt Whisky and its interaction with American wood. The flavours are a combination of vanilla fruitiness with an abundant fudge-like honey notes wrapped in a blanket of maturity.
