A fresh, fruit-forward Tempranillo rosé from Ribera del Duero
Septiembre Rosado is a rosé wine from the Ribera del Duero D.O., produced by Uvaguilera using 100% Tempranillo grapes grown in vineyards around La Aguilera, Burgos. What makes it distinctive is its gravity-fed saignée method, following approximately 20 hours of contact between the grape juice and skins.
It is Uvaguilera's freshest and lightest expression, a rosé designed to preserve the grape's natural fruit character and acidity. With an alcohol content of 13% ABV and no oak ageing, it is an appealing choice for those who enjoy young, refreshing wines that are versatile at the table.
Tempranillo from the vineyards of La Aguilera
The grapes come from selected vineyards close to the winery in La Aguilera, in the province of Burgos. Harvesting takes place in September, with grapes selected specifically to produce a rosé in which freshness takes centre stage.
Unlike the red wines of Ribera del Duero, where extraction and oak ageing often play a significant role, this wine is made using techniques designed to preserve the delicate fruit character and create a lighter, more refreshing style.
20 hours of skin contact and gravity-fed saignée
Winemaking for Septiembre Rosado begins with approximately 20 hours of contact between the grape juice and skins. This period allows the wine to develop its characteristic rosé colour while extracting some of the aromatic compounds found in the grape skins.
The juice is then drawn off by gravity using the saignée method, separating it from the skins without the need for intensive pressing. Fermentation continues in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 16–18°C, helping to preserve the fresh fruit and floral aromas of Tempranillo.
The wine undergoes no barrel maturation or oak ageing. The result is a straightforward, refreshing rosé with red fruit flavours and a subtle mineral character.
How to serve Septiembre Rosado and what to pair it with
We recommend serving it at 8–10°C, as indicated in the winery's technical information. Chill the bottle beforehand, but avoid serving it excessively cold, as this can mask some of its delicate aromas.
Its light body and refreshing character make it an excellent match for aperitifs, salads, Mediterranean rice dishes, fish, seafood and poultry. It also pairs well with tapas, informal meals and outdoor dining.
At Licorea, we recommend Septiembre Rosado to anyone looking for a refreshing alternative to the traditional red wines of Ribera del Duero. Made from Tempranillo, with 20 hours of skin contact followed by gravity-fed saignée, it is an easy-drinking rosé that is ideal for sharing, whether for a special occasion or simply enjoying a relaxed meal.
