Matarromera Gran Reserva is only released to the market after 6 or 7 years from its harvest.
Matarromera Gran Reserva is made from grapes grown in a mythical area of Ribera del Duero: Valbuena de Duero. It underwent a long ageing process of 36 months in oak barrels, followed by two more years of bottle ageing.
Despite the passage of time, Matarromera Gran Reserva, elaborado en la Ribera del Duero, es un vino que se ha modernizado gracias a la elegancia que aporta su crianza en barricas predominantemente francesas de altísima calidad y redondez que le da la botella.
The Vineyard
San Román is one of the most emblematic vineyards of Matarromera and surrounds the Winery in the municipality of Valbuena de Duero, on a steep limestone slope overlooking the Duero River.
The Finca de las Celadillas is located in Olivares de Duero, also very close to the Winery. Both have traditional Tempranillo strains that give rise to Matarromera Gran Reserva.
Production
Manual harvesting in 12-kilogram crates with triple selection: first in each plot, then for each bunch, and finally grain by grain.
Fermentation with native yeasts from their own plots.
Ageing for 24 months in French and American oak barrels and 36 months in the bottle.
Pairing
Matarromera Gran Reserva is a very versatile wine, ideal for pairing with pasta, legumes, cured meats, cheese, and pâtés. It even pairs well with red meats, like a grilled Ribeye.
