Each release from the collection will utilize the aromatic toasting of barrels, a new barrel-toasting technique exclusive to Brugal in which the finest barrels will be toasted using a different native Dominican ingredient to infuse them with aromas before ageing.
Known for its exploratory and pioneering spirit, Brugal embarks on a new and wonderful journey with Visionary Collection, inviting us to experience a new collection of rums inspired by the Dominican Republic, our homeland.

An innovative process
Building on 135 years of mastery in rum and barrel, this limited edition is crafted using a new and patented aromatic barrel-toasting technique, "Brugal's Aromatic Cask Toasting!" developed by the 5th generation Master Rum Maker, Jassil Villanueva.
This innovative and unique process involves toasting the finest European virgin oak barrels with hand-selected Dominican ingredients. The barrels are carefully toasted with Dominican ingredients, infusing them with natural aromas. Once the toasting process is complete, the natural ingredients are removed, the barrels are filled with rum, and aged under the Dominican sun, adding a layer of depth and complexity to our liquid. The result is a rich, elegant, and round rum that is truly unique in its class, a world first.

Crafted by the fifth generation of Brugal's master rum makers, Visionary Collection Edition 01, Cocoa is an exclusive limited edition of ultra-premium sipping rum that embodies the visionary spirit of Brugal and its more than 130 years of experience in rum-making.
For the first edition of the Visionary Collection, Brugal's first female Master Rum Maker and recognized as the youngest Master Rum Maker in the world by the World Record Academy, Jassil Villanueva Quintana, chose cocoa -one of the most cherished ingredients in the Dominican Republic- as the first Dominican ingredient to toast the oak barrels.

Jassil Villanueva holds cocoa close to her heart, as it reminds her of her family and, above all, her home. Recalling the green and lush cocoa fields that surrounded her family's home and the sweet and sour, yet rich, aromas of cocoa pods that surrounded much of her childhood, Jassil feels a deep affection and connection to this homegrown treasure.
The cocoa beans have been carefully hand-selected in the Dominican Republic and are 100% locally sourced.
The finest virgin European oak barrels are carefully toasted with locally sourced cocoa, to create this ultra-premium rum that gives off rich notes of dark chocolate and roasted nuts, beautifully balanced with citrus and vanilla.
This is not a flavored rum, as no ingredient comes into direct contact with the rum.
Each bottle is meticulously handcrafted, sealed by hand, signed by Jassil Villanueva, our Master Rum Maker, and wrapped in our iconic mesh.
