The 10th of January 1929 marked the beginning of a long career for a young 25-year-old Mallorcan called Julián Barceló. On that day he left Mallorca, his native island, for the Dominican Republic, in what was the beginning of a search for new challenges. Once in Santo Domingo, he began the great adventure of creating his own liquor firm.
Barcelo & Co was founded in 1930. Like all beginnings, these were hard beginnings. Julián drove around in his old Ford van promoting his quality rums in every corner of the country, but as time went by, his efforts were rewarded as Barcelo & Co became a powerhouse in the national industry.
After his death, his nephew Miguel Barceló, directed the course of the company, giving continuity to its growth, until it became a basic pillar of the Dominican economy.
Barceló Rum, in all its varieties, is framed in the purest tradition of the Caribbean, being one of the most appreciated rums in the world.
