More information Nikka Black Rich Blend Whisky
Nikka Black Rich Blended is the latest release from Nikka.
If there is one popular series of Nikka whiskies, it is the Black series. With this new Black Rich Blended version, Nikka masterfully blends whiskies from its distilleries in Yoichi and Miyagikyo to produce a whisky that is very smooth and delicate.
Black Nikka" was launched in 1965 as Nikka's premium blended whisky, that is, first class for the time.
It was incredibly popular over the following decades, but in response to changing drinking habits, Nikka introduced a new, lighter version in 1997, the "Black Nikka Clear Blend".
This was a cleaner blend, with an unripened malt base, light and elegant, perfect for first-time whisky drinkers or highball fans.
Now, with its new 'Rich Blend', Nikka is trying to appeal to those who have been drinking their whiskies' highball style for a while and are ready for something more..... well, "richer". Specifically, they promote the "Rich Blend" as a great whisky "on the rocks" and as the perfect "house whisky" for experienced whisky drinkers.
"Black Nikka Rich Blend" is made from Miyagikyo malt, with non and low proof, with a high proof Yoichi seasoning, with key components matured in ex-sherry casks. The complexity of the malts - sweet and full-bodied - is balanced by the lightness of the Coffey grain whisky. This is a completely different profile to the standard 'Black Nikka', smoother and more elegant.
