Ugo Borghetti, in 1860, owner of the Caffè Sport bar in the Station Square in Ancona, created a special coffee liqueur to revitalize and energize all those working on the great engineering feat: the Pescara-Ancona railway line.
The blend of coffee and alcohol was further refined with the qualities of Arabica and Robusta. The product was officially bottled and distributed from Ugo Borghetti’s bar to all other locations across Italy. The red star on its label became a national icon.
Caffe Borghetti, a liqueur of true espresso coffee, created from the ancient recipe passed down since 1860 by Ugo Borghetti and distributed by Branca since 1982.
Ugo Borghetti created this liqueur by observing the popular custom of “correcting or fortifying” coffee by adding alcohol. This renowned espresso coffee liqueur is made from a blend of the best coffees in the world.
A typically Italian flavour, a product that reflects the tradition and original processes which have become a distinctive symbol of a culture, a recipe that has remained unchanged over time. A special blend of high-quality Arabica and Robusta beans, prepared directly in the company’s facilities in huge coffee machines. The beans are roasted while maintaining the precise moisture level until they reach perfection. After that, the grinding process takes place and a true espresso (hot water) is prepared. Finally, vanilla, sugar and cereal alcohol are added to the coffee.
