Agustí Torelló Mata’s cava is the result of a personal commitment. The commitment of a family and a team who make possible, year after year and harvest after harvest, the miracle of creating internationally renowned cavas with a unique personality.Born from the best Penedès vines, Agustí Torelló Mata’s cavas respect their land, local varieties, soil, climate, process and traditions. These cavas develop through excellence. They convey their spirit. They are cavas with soul.
Agustí Torelló Mata’s cava winery is in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, the capital of cava and the heart of the Penedès region. Located in the central coastal area of Catalonia, this region lies very close to the Mediterranean Sea.
The Mediterranean and the region’s large geological structures determine the geographic and microclimatic borders of the various subzones that make up the Penedès region. Mountain ranges: the Litoral and Prelitoral ranges, the Bonastre depression and the Montserrat massif provide, in conjunction with the orographic depressions of Penedès, Canyelles and Foix, a wide variety of soil and lithologic differences which, combined with their own microclimate, produce at least three distinctive viticultural areas.
The first GRAND VINTAGE KRIPTA is the opera prima of Agustí Torelló Mata after 60 years dedicated to make Cava.
In 2006 we had an excel.lent harvest with exceptional characteristics to make this long aging cava: high concentration of flavors, special sugar and good acidity
· Made from three very old vineyards:
· El Vicari (Sant Pau d’Ordal), white grape Macabeu, planted in 1962 (Alt 239 m) · Mercader (Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, white grape Xarel·lo, planted in 1974 (Alt 162 m) · La Lola (Sant Joan de Mediona), white grape Parellada, planted in 1969 (Alt 650 m)
We have waiting for a decade in the Penedes area, to release this exceptional KRIPTA in a perfect balance.
