More information Glenfarclas 105 1 Liter (Highland) Whisky
In 1968, Glenfarclas was the first to release a cask strength single malt whisky. This bottling was re-named to 105, the British alcohol proof equivalent for 60% alcohol by volume. We all refer to this now as "120 proof" ,which is simply double the abv, as opposed to "105 degrees proof" or 7/4th times the alcohol by volume. It's also much simpler than lighting gunpowder in the whisky to establish proof.
"Don't fear the proof! The whisky is actually much gentler than you'd think. Glenfarclas uses a combination of both ex-Sherry and ex-bourbon barrels for aging. The nose is full of dark honey, pear, popcorn kernels, and butterscotch. The taste is intense and spicy before mellowing with char smoke around the ring of the whisky. Adding some water makes the dram a touch creamy and exposes some dried herbs. The Scotch is 8-10 years old and has a long finish on the palate."
