Contrabando Rum presents the best rum in the dominican republic
The roots of the company and the family that produces this rum go back to the middle of the 19th century in Cuba, with the arrival on the island of the Majorcan officer Juanillo Oliver to guarantee peace in the first Cuban war of independence, the so-called 10 Years' War.
Once the war was over, the budding patriarch decided to start a family there, founded a tobacco twisting factory, built sugar cane mills and set up stills, and successfully began to produce handcrafted bottled rums of family renown.
At the beginning of the Cuban revolutionary period, part of the Oliver family moved to the Dominican Republic, where they were welcomed with pleasure and solidarity.
It is in this new homeland of magnificent natural conditions that the sixth generation descendants of Juanillo Oliver, stimulated by the discovery of the original formulas and processes used by their ancestor, opened the doors of the new Oliver & Oliver house.
Thus, with great enthusiasm and tenacity, they resumed the work of ageing and maturing sugar cane spirits for the production of rums of great size, packaging and international prestige. In the purest Caribbean style.
Contrabando Rum Solera 5 años
The notary Fernando Mora, on a leisure trip to the Dominican Republic, brought back with him to Spain some anonymous bottles of rum as a gift and souvenir of the flavours he tasted and enjoyed there. Given that these first bottles arrived in our country without passing the legal customs controls, in recognition of this fact, the name of contraband was given to the legal importation of this rum.

This authentic dark rum from the Dominican Republic is distilled by hand from the purest selected sugar cane honeys.
Charismatic and emblematic, full of history and tradition. Its soft aroma transports you to the island's Caribbean, impregnated in a bath of subtle fragrances. Rich in fine nuances of sweet vanilla, fresh coconut and sun-ripened tropical fruits.
With a perfect harmony of toasted and balsamic notes provided by the noble woods of the barrels where it rests for ageing, immobile in time, during its slow and complex ageing under the traditional solera method and the attentive supervision of winemakers and rum masters.
5 years of ageing in American and French oak barrels that have contained Cognac, Bourbon, and Sherry.
A gentle but intense rum, well-balanced, complex and elegant on the palate.
