Vermut Asombroso is based on sweet Oloroso wine, obtained from a careful selection of Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez
Vermut Asombroso is made with the finest selection of sweet Oloroso wines from Jerez and macerated with a wide variety of botanicals, resulting in this exclusive vermouth. It is the only one made with a wine with D.O.
This red vermouth has a sweeter flavour thanks to the caramel that is added, which also explains its colour. As a result, it tastes less bitter and dry than other vermouths, while the aromatic herbs and spices are even more pronounced.

Historical notes
Vermouth arrived in Spain at the end of the nineteenth century. The Italian Perucchi brought his recipe to Spain in 1860 and would produce it in Barcelona. The arrival of this new wine through Barcelona led to Catalonia being regarded as the cradle of Spanish vermouth.
If Perucchi was the first vermouth produced in Spain, although of Italo-Spanish origin, two producers would dispute the honour of creating the first truly Spanish vermouth: Yzaguirre in 1884 in Reus, although it is said that Melquiades Sáez was already producing vermouth in Huelva in 1870. It is not entirely clear. Today, almost all Spanish regions produce many vermouths with excellent quality and different particularities.
The meticulous care behind Vermut Asombroso
Vermut Asombroso is based on sweet Oloroso wine, obtained from a careful selection of Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez aged together for six years in American oak barrels under the exclusive Soleras and Criaderas system in Jerez, together with an elegant blend of aromas from flowers, fruits, roots, woods and barks.
Its aroma is a mix of scents extracted from the maceration of the wine with fruits and plants, resulting in a homogeneous and consistent whole.
Flavourings: wormwood and sage, dried chamomile flowers, hops, elderflower, saffron and cloves, fruits, star anise seeds, bitter orange peel, cardamom, coriander seeds, fennel seeds, mace, nutmeg and vanilla, roots of angelica, sweet flag, elecampane, gentian, masterwort, iris and turmeric, woods and barks, Ceylon cinnamon, dried croton bark, calisaya cinchona, pomegranate bark and quassia wood.

Vermouth, from the German wermut, meaning ‘wormwood’ or ‘absinthe’, is a wine macerated with herbs and served during aperitifs, made from white wine, wormwood and other bitter substances. These wines are typically European, with a characteristic aroma suited to a cocktail or aperitif.
