The Macallan Distil Your World Hong Kong is set to become the next collector’s bottle in the series
The Distil Your World series by The Macallan continues to surprise its followers with exclusive releases created in collaboration with the acclaimed restaurant El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, Spain, led by the renowned Roca brothers.
This partnership has taken whisky lovers on a unique journey through different cities and countries, exploring flavours and cultures with each edition.
Following the success of previous editions, which explored iconic destinations such as London, New York and Mexico, the The Macallan Distil Your World series now takes us to the bustling streets and vibrant atmosphere of Hong Kong.
The inspiration behind The Macallan Distil Your World Hong Kong
To create The Macallan Distil Your World Hong Kong edition, Macallan whisky maker Euan Kennedy travelled to the Asian city alongside one of the Roca brothers.
Inspired by Hong Kong’s energy and diversity, they selected the perfect essence to reflect this metropolis in a unique single malt.
As is characteristic of The Macallan, a carefully chosen combination of European and American oak casks was selected, resulting in a whisky bottled at 46.8% ABV that captures the essence of Hong Kong.
Official tasting notes for The Macallan Distil Your World Hong Kong
- Nose: Rich, resinous and sweet aromas, with hints of ginger and spice balanced by tropical notes such as grapefruit and mango. Subtle impressions of Hong Kong-style egg tart, fragrant honey and antique oak are also present.
- Palate: The texture is viscous and enveloping, followed by bright tropical sweetness and rounded touches of ginger and spice that add structure. Gentle waves of aged oak, grapefruit and a nuance of umami depth unfold on the palate.
- Finish: The vibrant antique oak continues to shine, leaving a lasting impression.
