It is the spirit drink made by fermentation and distillation of marc and grapes obtained from harvested grapes.
Especially popular in Galicia, Cantabria and the mountains of Leon.
The description of the stills for the distillation of marc appears already in the SXVII. It is assumed that pomace and wine distillations began in Galicia at that time, due to the ease with which alchemists from different convents and religious orders transmitted their knowledge to each other and also through the Way of Saint James. There is documentation showing that the Egyptians already used stills or small distilling apparatus.
