The new Zacapa Edición Negra stands out as "a true expression of Guatemalan heritage and culture" and is inspired by Mayan rituals.
Zacapa Edición Negra has been aged in double charred American white oak barrels, resulting in a black rum with "smoky intensity". It is a blend of rums without ageing that aims to mark a different line of Zacapa 23 rum, the world famous version created from rums aged from 6 to 23 years.
Zacapa Edición Negra has been created by master blender Lorena Vasquez, known for developing the brand's solera ageing system.
With aroma and taste notes that include caramelised fruits, plums, chocolate sultanas, dried fruits and a "softly smoky" element, Zacapa Edición Negra marks a new line of sensations in the world rum market, a super premium rum that no longer relies on its long ageing period.
