Ramón Bilbao Limited Edition Garnacha is made from grapes harvested from the first vines to see the sunrise.
On Monte Yerga, Garnacha vines are bathed in the first rays of the sun. These vines are the source of Ramón Bilbao’s Limited Edition Garnacha.
The Vineyard
A selection of vineyards from Rioja Oriental, located in several municipalities (Tudelilla, Grávalos, and Arnedo) and Monte Yerga. The Garnacha vines grow on low trellises with a spacing of 2.60 x 1.20 m on alluvial soils with a limestone substrate. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 600 m, facing east-west.
The Limited Edition Garnacha
Limited Edition Garnacha offers pure lightness, emphasizing the prominence of primary fruit with a very subtle barrel influence. The altitude and location of the vineyard provide freshness and Mediterranean character. It is a light-colored wine with a nose dominated by red fruit and a smooth, velvety palate with enveloping and balanced tannins.
Winemaking
Manual harvest and selection of the best clusters. Fermentation takes place in concrete vats at a low temperature with gentle pump-overs to ensure a soft extraction that enhances varietal expression. The wine is aged for 12 months in second- and third-use French oak barrels to preserve the elegant fruit of Garnacha.
The wine is then blended and refined in concrete vats for another 6 months before bottling.
The 2019 Vintage
The year was characterized by stable vineyard development until April, when a frost significantly reduced production. Harvest began in early September, with a 30% decrease in yield compared to the average. However, the quality led the Regulatory Council to rate the 2019 vintage as “Excellent.”
