Gran Duque de Alba owes its fine balance and unique character to long ageing in the Oloroso seasoned oak cask of its own Solera.
Bodegas Williams & Humbert was created more than 125 years ago and is one of the most prestigious bodega firms in the world. It was funded in 1877 by Sir Alexander Williams, a great admirer of Jerez products, and Arthur Humbert, a specialist in international relations.
Since the company´s beginning the wines and brandies have been conserved in oak barrels of the highest quality (soleras).
Gran Duke of Alba brandy is produced in barrels that previously contained high quality Jerez wine.
Production
The extraordinary characteristics of this brandy are the results of the thorough selection of raw materials with which it is produced. The selection starts with the finest quality grapes. The level of maturation of the grape determines the final quality of the distillations (holandas). The holandas (7 litres of wine are necessary to obtain one litre of holanda) are aged for a minimum of 3 years in American oak barrels that previously contained Oloroso wine.
