More information Glenmorangie Nectar D'Òr (Highlands) Whisky
In the far North of Scotland, beside that ancient Royal Burgh of Tain, lies the Glenmorangie Distillery.
Established in 1843, Glenmorangie is still to this day perfected by the Sixteen Men of Tain. In the Gaelic language, Glenmorangie means "Valley of Tranquillity", perfectly describing the distillery's peaceful setting on the banks of the picturesque Dornoch Firth.
The finest Golden barley and mineral-rich water from the Glenmorangie Distillery's own Tarlogie springs come together in the tallest whisky stills in Scotland to produce a spirit of rare finesse and delicacy.
Their pioneering research into the effect of wood selection on whisky maturation is exemplified by The Nectar D'Òr, where mature Glenmorangie is transferred from the original bourbon cask and then extra matured or "finished" in exquisite Sauternes wine barriques from some of the most respected vineyards of France. Òr means gold in both Gaelic and French, while of course "Nectar" is the drink of the Gods!´
Toasted oak and vanilla are intricately woven with honey, lemon, and spices to create a mix of sumptuous flavours, a silky texture and a long, lingering finish. Importantly, The Nectar D'Òr is non chill-filteres and bottled at a 46%. This imparts added body, taste and texture to the spirit.
