Origins
Giró de Abargues is born from soils formed during the Cretaceous and Triassic periods, comprised of red-coloured clay and descaled sand, rich in ferric oxides, salts, and gypsum.
Vineyards
The Giró de Abargues vines were planted in 1943 under strict dry farming conditions, trained in traditional bush formations with low intensity to adapt to the Mediterranean climate. The cultivation follows sustainable and environmentally respectful practices, preserving the flora and fauna of its surroundings.
The Giró Grape
The Giró grape is a unique variety that has linked Marina Alta with Mallorca and Sardinia since the 1500s, where it is also found. It is highly sensitive to powdery mildew and offers very low yields, leading it to be replaced by more productive varieties over time. Today, Giró is a rare treasure that deserves to be nurtured and showcased with care.
Winemaking
Crafted under a philosophy of minimal intervention, Giró de Abargues focuses on the high potential of the Giró grape. Harvested manually in small 10 kg boxes, it ferments in small vats with its native yeasts. The wine is refined for 12 months in new and one-year-old 500-litre French oak barrels from Allier.
