One of the best kept secrets of Costa Rica is Rum. Rum is the most traditional drink in Central America and the Caribbean. Its unique flavor has characteristics that come from the color, intensity and above all the capacity to combine with other drinks. In Costa Rica the sugar cane juice is fermented and then aged in fine oak barrels that will give as a prize to the famous Centenario Rum.

The elaboration process of Centenario Rum begins with the careful selection of the sugar cane. The tropical climate favored by volcanic soil and its natural richness make Costa Rica an ideal place for the cultivation of sugar cane. The harvest or Zafra is done during the summer, the branches are removed and taken to the mill to extract the juicy nectar.

The juice undergoes the process of fermentation where special yeasts transform the sugar into alcohol.

Centenario Conmemorativo is an exquisite super premium rum, produced in limited quantities, made from the finest and most mature reserves. Aged separately in select barrels of Scotch Whisky and American Bourbon to give it a delicious and special bouquet.
