Our distinguised and cared for production is obtained thanks to blending the experience of craftsmanship, treasured for centuaries, and the most advanced modern tecnology. This is what makes the “Virgen Pobre “ Valencian Cooperative Society an emblematic wine producer, well known throughout the region for its top quality wines and liquors (white and red “Mistelas” and Vermouths).
The building itself was constructed in the early sixties and is known locally as the “Bodega” of Jalon. Its original purpose was for storing the equipment that belonged to the first members of the society; presses, wine deposits, wooden oak barrils etc. It was the place where they combined their wisdom and know how as well as their most cared for old wines called “Fondellol”.
As the years have passed the “Bodega” has adapted to new tecnology and from those first wines and “Mistelas” (sweet liquors), which were sold exclusively in bulk,we have passed to the bottling of top quality wines, which you will be able to sample in our establishment.
Castell d'Aixa
This crianza wine has been carefully made using our best grapes, and matured in American and French oak barrels. It is a very structured wine but easy to drink, and the ideal companion to cheeses, red meat and game.

Tasting Notes
Appearance: A clean and transparent wine. Deep and intense red with mid high coating and a slightly purplish edge, which denotes that it successfully maintains its youth in spite of being a crianza.
Nose: Of medium high aromatic intensity. In a still glass are primarily highlighted red fruit aromas, which are perfectly integrated with high roasted aromas from the wood, clean and noble. In a swirled glass the red fruit aromas brought in by the perfect combination of the Mpnastrell and Gró varieties are intensified as well as the sweetness brought in by the Syrah. This fruit remains perfectly sustained by the fine aromas of the American oak in which the crianza has matured. A wine with a strong and pleasant aroma. Complex.
Palate: A wine that is pleasant to drink, big bodied, with considerable fruitiness and acidity which is perfectly integrated to the ensemble as well as great astringency, which without doubt signals the presence of ripe tannins which give the wine more smoothness with more time spent in the bottle. A fruity retronasal aspect with a medium and pleasant aftertaste. It can be enjoyed now, although it will undoubtedly improve with time.
