Zeer Oude Bols is a very old genever derives its name from the fact that this was the first genever known in Holland, which was consumed by many.
However, in the late twenties a more pure genever was made, which goes under the name Young Genever. Zeer Oude Bols is also distilled from 100% pure grain, but by the usage of other botanicals and a little caramel, Zeer Oude Bols is a bit sweeter than Jonge Bols. The colour of Zeer Oude Bols is transparent yellow because of the caramel. Zeer Oude Bols is a little smoother than Jonge Bols and is best drunk pure at refrigerator temperature. The stone jar packaging of Zeer Oude Bols was changed to a brown bottle in June 2002.
