International Beer Day (1st Friday): Beer is one of humanity’s oldest fermented drinks and one of the most highly prized. Since 2007, International Beer Day has been celebrated on the first Friday of August, a tradition that began in a small bar in Santa Cruz, California (United States). 4 — Chilean Wine Day: National Wine Day is celebrated as a way to recognise its historical importance for the country, to remember its economic and cultural contribution, and to highlight its role as an ambassador for Chile around the world.

7 — Winemaker’s Day: Since 2002, following an agreement between organisations such as the Centro de Enólogos and the Professional Council of Winemakers of San Juan, Winemaker’s Day has been celebrated every 7 September, commemorating the day in 1862 when Domingo F. Sarmiento inaugurated the Quinta Normal de San Juan, which in 1939 was renamed the National School of Fruit Growing and Oenology.

4 — Vodka Day: an alcoholic drink affectionately known by Russians as “little water”, whose exact origin cannot be determined as either Polish or Russian.

24 — Eggnog Day: Rompope, rompón or eggnog is a preparation made with egg yolks, vanilla, cinnamon, ground almond, milk, sugar, cornflour and liqueur. It is very popular in several Latin American countries. It is yellow in colour and thick in texture. Eggnog is served as a drink on key dates such as Christmas and New Year’s Eve. It is also consumed on Thanksgiving. In Spain, this drink is associated with feverish states as a traditional home remedy to help relieve them.
