ANTIQUE PELINKOVAC is Badel's oldest and best-known premium herbal liqueur, but also one of the most intriguing Croatian drinks.
ANTIQUE PELINKOVAC dates back to 1862, when the company Badel was founded in 1862.
It was invented by Franjo Pokorny, merchant and founder of the Badel company, in 1862. At that time, Antique was sold exclusively in pharmacies under the recommendation of "stomach tonic".
It was in such demand that Franjo Pokorny became a supplier of this fantastic liqueur even to the Viennese and French courts, and according to records, it was already exported to America at that time.
The recipe according to which Badel Antique Pelinkovac was produced is the oldest and well-preserved recipe in the Badel 1862 archive, it contains the indispensable wormwood, and the original bottle in which the product is sold is still kept in the Museum of the City of Zagreb.
Antique Pelinkovac has been produced since 1862 in the same, traditional way, according to the original recipe, from 100% natural ingredients.
For those who understand the technology of preparing fine liqueurs, we will discover that the selected herbs are first aged in alcohol, and then the aged macerate is distilled in small batches in copper cauldrons, and the liqueur made in this way is manually bottled after ageing, which makes this product an original Croatian craft product.
Each bottle is also marked with a unique serial number printed on the label on the back.
The taste of this premium herbal liqueur is dominated by wormwood, an aromatic plant that is distinguished by its smell, and then also by the note of bitterness, by which many people remember and recognize it due to its beneficial effect on the body, which makes wormwood a perfect digestive.
For full enjoyment, it is recommended to serve it well chilled, and it is perfectly complemented by one or two ice cubes and a piece of lemon or orange.
Due to its perfect, sumptuous taste, Antique has become the favourite drink of real connoisseurs and lovers of fine liqueurs and an indispensable part of the offer of fine restaurants and bars, whether it is consumed on its own, as a favourite ingredient in delicious cocktails or with coffee.
Antique with reason and pride represents a valuable part of Croatian tradition, and in recent times it has become an obligatory souvenir that tourists like to taste, but also take with them as a selected Croatian delicacy.
