Historically, Rueda has been one of the most outstanding centres for vine growing since the 18th century. Bodegas Aura bears good witness to this tradition by expressing the autochthonous variety of the region in its Aura Verdejo wine.
Exclusively devoted to making a white wine, recognised by writers as being one of the most expressive among Ruedas , its distinct style is highlighted by its careful presentation. .
THE BODEGA
Situated in the town of Rueda, near Tordesillas. The Velasco family, with a long tradition of growing and making wine in these vineyards and terroirs going back several generations, have played an important role in the development of the area..
THE VINEYARD
A total area of 60,4 hectares of our own vineyards split between 52,4 of Verdejo grapes, the indigenous variety of the area, and 8 of Sauvignon Blanc. Lots of rounded stones on the surface and gritty soil, with a small amount of organic matter, good aeration and drainage. The composition of the soils varies from gritty silt to silt.
THE OENOLOGIST
Trained as a specialist in viticulture and oenology (School and Museum of The Vine and Wine in Madrid). Master in viticulture, oenology and wine marketing (The international social science council).
From 1985 to 2000, she worked in the Castilla Y León Wine Research Station. Before joining Bodegas Aura she had produced wines for bodegas Velasco Estero and Bodegas Tamaral.
