Black Bottle Double Cask is made in sherry and red wine casks.
Black Bottle launched a new series of limited whiskies in 2021: The Alchemy Series.
The Alchemy Series consists of 2 Experiments (both available from Licorea).
The Black Bottle Double Cask Experiment #1 is a 12 year old whisky where the blended whiskies are malt whiskies that have aged in casks that have contained sherry and the grain whiskies are from casks that have contained red wine.
Like the classic Black Bottle expression, it is particularly smooth on the nose, with hardly any peat smoke.
Malts from Spanish casks contribute notes of dried fruits and nuts, hints of sultanas, oak, and oranges. And the 12-year-old grain whisky, matured in red wine casks, contributes bursts of red berries.
