Made from sugarcane molasses grown in the lush, fertile soil and warm microclimate of the Sierra Maestra basin and then matured in the oldest oak barrels in Cuba, dating back in the early of the 20th Century , Ron Santiago de Cuba prides itself on being a unique and authentic Cuban treasure. Following the Cuban revolution in 1959, the rum making heritage of the Sierra Maestra region was consolidated with the nationalisation of all rum industries, allowing Ron Santiago de Cuba (before named in Cuba Matusalem) to draw upon an unrivalled heritage and expertise as makers of high quality, authentically Cuban rum. Its distinct flavour and character are due to its unique locality and Cuban cultural heritage that dates back in the founding of the city itself. The Anejo is aged using the Spanish Solera system, for up to 5 years, in the oldest oak casks in Cuba, which date back to the 1920's.
