Description détaillée Rhum El Ron Prohibido (Mexico)

Ron Prohibido is a premium, artisan rum produced under a 12 year solera system. Its truly distinctive sweet and bitter taste is acquired by combining rums of different aging profiles and adding a touch of raisin wine. This blend results in a wide range of delicious aromas and flavours.

During the 18th century, the Spanish ships reached America with sweet wine reserves in barrels. Instead of going back with empty barrels, they filled them with Chinguirito, known as Mexican rum. During the trip, the rum absorbed the aromatic characteristics of the barrels, which resulted in a high quality product.

Prohibited during the reign of the King of Spain Felipe V De Borbon, for the disastrous effects caused on society by its excessive drinking, this alcohol beverage known as Chinguirito or Habanero comes back to light in its original recipe for the lucky fans of the real rum.

The Ron Prohibido process starts with sugar cane juice fermentation. The fermented juice, or sugar cane wine, is distilled in a column still to produce rum. The rum is then blended with the solera 12 years to obtain its delicious aroma and flavour.

  Gran ron

  Safe, artificial, bland, un-rebellious...

Definitely no Habanero, though a skilful example of the art of marketing with a good reproduction of a flagon to contain the characterless imitation of an aborigine legacy from Cuba. This is a Mexican example of a Cuban rum and it utterly misses the profundity of depths that are normally achieved by other rums about the Caribs. It has achieved a laudable and dry, smoothness which is unfortunately compromised by a surprising caramelised overtone. This is without nose or palate which smacks a bit hard between the eyes to the forehead of a synthetic burn which the originals and darker rums achieved by including the delicate art of sterilisation by fire !! .... here I am concerned by the synthetic potential ....? So I am not happy to recommend this bevy as it is a poor representation and purveyor therefore of the Rum-Art, indeed !!! Full strength it may be ... but it is expensive even as a liniment ! I do have a remedial concoction two parts 'El Ron Prohibido' to one part 'Guayabita del Pinar' which maybe seen as a waste of a great Guayabita but there is merit ... though still the synthetic-burn bothers me !
