Definitely no Habanero, though a skilful example of the art of marketing with a good reproduction of a flagon to contain the characterless imitation of an aborigine legacy from Cuba.
This is a Mexican example of a Cuban rum and it utterly misses the profundity of depths that are normally achieved by other rums about the Caribs.
It has achieved a laudable and dry, smoothness which is unfortunately compromised by a surprising caramelised overtone. This is without nose or palate which smacks a bit hard between the eyes to the forehead of a synthetic burn which the originals and darker rums achieved by including the delicate art of sterilisation by fire !! .... here I am concerned by the synthetic potential ....?
So I am not happy to recommend this bevy as it is a poor representation and purveyor therefore of the Rum-Art, indeed !!!
Full strength it may be ... but it is expensive even as a liniment ! I do have a remedial concoction two parts 'El Ron Prohibido' to one part 'Guayabita del Pinar' which maybe seen as a waste of a great Guayabita but there is merit ... though still the synthetic-burn bothers me !
