Grand Marnier Red Cord is still produced in the company´s original city, Neauphle-le-Chateau. It is a delicious orange liqueur with a French cognac base.

The history of Grand Marnier starts at the beginning of the 19th century.

Neauphle-Le-Chateau

In 1827, Jean-Baptiste founded a distillery in Neauphle le Chateau, France. After a few years his business gained a solid reputation and he started to obtain many clients. Jean-Baptiste was content with his success, but his son Eugene wanted to develop the business even further.

Eugene visited the Cognac region when it was going through an economic crisis, and he had the genius idea of buying a portion of a business that produced exceptional cognac.

Many years later Aler Marnier Lapostolle, the son of Eugene, started to experiment with his family´s cognac. He added peels of exotic oranges and other ingredients, and from this experimentation Grand Marnier was born.
