It first ages in a typical American oak barrel, but is then transferred to a Spanish oak barrel that previously contained Sherry. In each stage the single malt obtains different characterisitcs -the traditional American oak barrel, that previously contained bourbon, creates a smooth body, while the Spanish oak barrel adds a unique flavour.
