The white wines were produced with fermentation at low tempersture, which gave crisper, cleaner, flavours. They were an immediate success in Britain and nowhere moreso than in Wales. Enrique Forner died recently and the company is now run by his daughter Cristina. Their modern cellars in Cenicero, at the heart of the Rioja Alta, are well worth a visit.
Dark ruby red colour. Fresh notes of red berries on the nose enriched by a depth of vanilla and sweet spice. Clean and lively on tasting with ripe tannins that blend with balanced structure. Fleshy in the mouth with delicious flavours, this is a wine for pleasure.
