More information Hacienda Monasterio 2022 Wine
Hacienda Monasterio is an estate located between Pesquera and Valbuena de Duero, covering 113 hectares, of which 68 are vineyards. The winery was built between 1991 and 1992 and was designed by the French architect Philippe Mazières, who worked on renowned wineries such as Château Margaux and Château d’Yquem.
The estate’s 70 hectares of vineyards form a highly renowned single vineyard site. Tempranillo grapes are planted on limestone-rich soils, while the poorer, better-exposed plots are reserved for Cabernet Sauvignon.
The wine brings together colour, structure, aromas and flavour, showing a well-polished rustic character that marks a new era in the winery’s ageing style. It makes no attempt to impress through complexity, yet it is undeniably seductive, with a subtle floral touch. Fruit clearly dominates over oak, while toasted and roasted notes play a complementary role.
On the palate it is moderately powerful, evolving and refined, with subtle tannins. Despite its strong identity, it is approachable and even invites the next sip. The blend is 80% Tinta del País, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Malbec. The wine has been aged for 18 months, 60% of which in new Allier oak barrels.
