El Seque is a project from Juan Carlos Lopez, the founder of Rioja’s world-renowned Artadi estate. Located in the Alicante D.O., on the southeastern shoreline of Spain, the focus is on the Monastrell varietal, which thrives in the Mediterranean climate. Composed of 80% Monastrell, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Syrah, this aromatic red displays fragrant notes of violets, raspberry, and cherry, which also appear on the palate. Vibrant and fruit-forward with fine tannins, this wine will pair well with grilled pork or beef.
EL SEQUE
Powerful balsamic notes, mature fruit, unctuous: a fleshy wine that satisfies the identity of the Monastrell variety from the old vineyards of El Sequé. Produced from 100 % estate-grown fruit, this wine has a clear Mediterranean influence, with warm and calm nuances of black fruit and soft aromas and tastes of balsamic and aromatic plants. This is a wine with an authentic Mediterranean character.

On the nose it is intensely fruity, spicy, with hints of aromatic herbs (fennel), without the alcohol standing out in the least. In the mouth it is extraordinarily balanced, elegant, fresh, without any excess. It accompanies all the food without stridencies. The finish is very pleasant and bitter.
