Mumm Millésimé 2015: A Vintage Champagne Reflecting the Grandeur of the French Terroir
Mumm Millésimé 2015 is a jewel among vintage champagnes, crafted exclusively in years when the quality of the harvest reaches perfection. This exceptional champagne stands out for its complexity and prestige, bringing to the glass all the mastery and character that Maison Mumm has perfected over more than two centuries of tradition.
The Art of Crafting an Exceptional Vintage Champagne
The production of Mumm Millésimé 2015 follows a rigorous and meticulous approach, starting with the selection of the finest grapes from Grand Cru vineyards, considered the most prestigious in the Champagne region. This champagne is crafted from two essential grape varieties:
- Pinot Noir: Representing approximately 65% of the blend, this grape is grown on the hills of the Montagne de Reims, in vineyards such as Ambonnay, Mailly, Bouzy, Verzy, and Mareuil-sur-Ay. Pinot Noir brings strength, structure, and a complex fruity profile characteristic of the terroir. With its power and body, it serves as the backbone of this champagne.
- Chardonnay: The remaining 35% comes from the Côte des Blancs, in vineyards like Oger, Avize, and Cramant. Chardonnay contributes freshness and delicacy, adding elegance and vibrant acidity that balances the intensity of Pinot Noir. With floral aromas and a hint of citrus, this variety gives the wine a refined and fresh dimension.
A Slow Maturation Process to Achieve Excellence
One of the distinguishing features of Mumm Millésimé 2015 is its lengthy maturation process in the cellar. After the second fermentation in the bottle, this champagne rests for years on its lees, allowing for the development of a unique aromatic complexity and a creamy texture that is felt on the palate. The time spent in the cellar is key to ensuring that every element of the wine integrates perfectly, resulting in a champagne with magnificent aging potential.
