More information Veterano Caramelo Brandy

Veterano Caramelo is a spirit drink that combines the indisputable flavour of the old-time veteran with the natural essences of caramel.

In this beautiful town that at the beginning of the first millennium BC, according to legend, after the Trojan War, the Greek captain Menestheo founded and named it "El Puerto de Menestheo", which the Arabs called "Alcanatif or Puerto de las Salinas" and Alfonso X renamed it "Santa María del Puerto" in 1260, is one of the oldest and most established wineries on the Spanish wine scene, Bodegas OSBORNE. El Puerto de Santa María in Cádiz belongs to the Jerez and Manzanilla de Sanlúcar de Barrameda D.O.

Santa María del Puerto is one of those towns full of flavour, history and charm, capable of making you fall in love, as it did with Menestheo himself, or with Cristóbal Colón, guest between 1483-1486 of the Dukes of Medinaceli, or Juan de la Cosa, who made in this town, in 1500, the first world map that included America. Or those merchants, "Cargadores a Indias" who built their house-palaces, hence El Puerto is known as the "city of a hundred palaces". This singular town, also fell in love at the end of the 18th century with the young English merchant Thomas Osborne Mann, founder of Bodegas OSBORNE

Once settled in El Puerto, Thomas Osborne married the daughter of the house's proxy Duff Gordon and it was his sons Thomas and John Nicholas who inherited the business upon his death in 1854. The latter will receive the title of Count of Osborne in 1869. Since then; El Puerto, Vinos and Osborne form a beautiful axiom.

At present and after more than two hundred years, elaborating and raising wines, Osborne constitutes a Group of Companies that turns it into one of the most outstanding in the national and international wine scope. It is the unquestionable result of a continuous effort to offer the best possible quality and a magical combination of tradition and innovation.

In El Puerto de Santa María, Osborne has a complete winery complex, with a comprehensive approach to the production of its wines. It owns more than 200 hectares of vineyards in the estate known as "Balbaina" with the varieties of Palomino Fino, Pedro Ximénez and Chradonnay, an estate located in the area known as Jerez Superior.

After a rigorous selection of the best grapes, Osborne has several production centres, depending on the type of product to be produced - wine or brandy - so the La Atalaya winery is used for the harvest. The cellars of El Tiro, whose interior resembles the skeleton of a large fish, are used for the production and ageing in oak barrels and casks of the sherry and liqueur brandies.

In the Mora wineries, which once belonged to the Moreno Mora family, there is a superb architectural ensemble formed by the so-called "casco de bodega", which is the patron saint of the so-called "bodegas cathedral", and a beautiful mansion, whose nexus is a well-cared-for courtyard, a place for receiving visitors.

In these wineries of Mora, together with the so called Export Wineries, are the ones in charge of receiving in their bosom those hundreds of butts or barrels of American oak, arranged in balanced "andanas", piled up forming "legs" and "castles" where wines of all ages and types rest (finos, amontillados, olorosos, Pedro Ximénez).

El Puerto was the genesis of the Osborne Group, which now extends its experience and know-how to other wine-producing areas, such as the D.O. Ca. Rioja with its Montecillo wineries, to the D.O. Ribera del Duero, in La Mancha with the Tomelloso wineries for obtaining holandas and aguardientes. In Malpica del Tajo, with its estate and winery for the production and ageing of "Vinos de la Tierra de Castilla". And in Portugal, where it produces wines under the appellation of Oporto.

Veterano Caramelo is a spirit drink that combines the indisputable flavour of the old-time veteran with the natural essences of caramel. An experience of intense pleasure that remains in the memory.

A spirit drink obtained by combining our famous Veteran with the soft and sweet taste of roasted caramel.
