The grapes that bring Rafael Cañizares Syrah 2023 to life originate in the Alto Vinalopó region, where the Mediterranean character of the Syrah variety fully expresses its strength. The vines sink their roots into extremely poor clay-limestone soils, an environment that enhances the concentration and depth of each cluster.
The harvest, carried out in the second week of September, yields medium-sized, compact clusters with an intense violet hue and impeccable ripeness. This perfect balance allows each grape to capture the essence of the wine that Rafa Cañizares envisions and brings to life in his winery.
Winemaking: Precision and Patience
To maximize its qualities, the grapes are chilled before fermentation, slowing down the process and promoting a balanced extraction of primary aromas, polyphenols, and aromatic precursors. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, ensuring freshness and purity of aromas.
Following this initial phase, the wine is aged in used French oak barrels, where it undergoes malolactic fermentation and refines for 10 months, reaching the perfect balance between structure, elegance, and varietal expression.
