Vino Pesquera MXI 2018

Pesquera MXI is the new creation of the Fernández Rivera Family.

At an altitude of 900 metres above sea level in "El Monte Alto de Pesquera", the vineyards where the Tempranillo grapes from which we have produced this MXI 2018 grow. A fresh and fruity wine that will age in the cellar in a very careful selection of different formats of barrels with medium toasting and for a period of 14 months. This wine was born in 2016 as a new project of the Fernández Rivera family, a wine made with dedication, affection and respect for the land and that welcomes the new generations of our family.

Ideal to accompany rice dishes with small game, risottos, grilled meat carpaccio and grilled chops.

WEATHER

 2018 began with a cold winter, typical of the Ribera del Duero, when minimum temperatures reached -12 C. Temperatures remained low during the early spring, despite these conditions, bud break took place within the usual dates, at the end of April. After a very dry 2017, rainfall made its appearance at the end of winter and continued throughout the spring, the quantities collected were very abundant, with 2018 being classified as a very wet year in the area. The vegetative development of the plants was favoured by the temperature regime and the water reserves, which also led to a considerable increase in the size of the berries. As a consequence of this increase in the size of the grapes and despite the fact that temperatures during September and October were warmer than usual, ripening was delayed.

HARVEST

 The harvest was healthy and of exceptional quality.

AGING

 14 months in the cellar, ageing in different formats and a selection of barrels of different formats.
