Pear Williams Golden Eight is made with pear brandies aged for a minimum of eight years
Created in 1870, the Massenez Distillery developed its first recipe for Pear Williams liqueur that same year.
Unlike the great French liqueurs made from bitter oranges or botanicals, the Pear Williams liqueur did not yet have a significant name.
With Golden Eight ®, Bernard Baud, President of Grandes Distilleries Peureux, owners of Massenez, sought to fill this gap: «Its name had to clearly evoke the quality of the product. "Eight" refers to the age of the youngest Pear Williams brandy in the blend, and Golden Eight ® characterizes its magnificent amber color with golden highlights.»
Composed of a blend of exceptional Pear Williams brandies aged for 8 years or more, Golden Eight ® enhances the purity of the fruit. To give it a more indulgent personality, the Master Liqueur Makers at the Massenez Distillery have completed this remarkable blend with a note of vanilla and a touch of authentic caramel, obtained from melted sugar and a few closely guarded aromatic secrets.
The quintessence of Massenez Distillery's expertise
In a single bottle, this new jewel brings together all the know-how of this venerable house. That of the Master Distillers, who crafted the Pear Williams brandies that form the base of the recipe.
They carefully selected, among all the Pear Williams brandies aged at least eight years, the most exceptional ones to create a blend that expresses roundness, fruitiness, and floral notes.
Finally, the expertise of the Master Liqueur Makers, with the experience of a house with nearly 150 years of history, who managed to elevate this blend into a liqueur of infinite delicacy, while imparting a balance of remarkable freshness.
Without the perfect mastery of each of these crafts, Golden Eight ® would never have come to light.

Tasting Notes | Its first nose expresses the purity of the fruit with richness and power. The Williams pear unfolds in a beautiful maturity, almost candied. It is accompanied by notes of vanilla and caramel, leading to a very indulgent, pastry-like register, where aromas of marzipan blend with a tangy background that preserves great freshness in the whole.
