More information Pacto Navio Rum
Pacto Navio is a meticulous blend of aged Cuban rum bases.
Pacto Navio is the result of a meticulous blend of the finest aged bases of Cuban rum. The final ageing stage of Pacto Navio Rum takes place in French oak barrels that previously held red wine from La Rioja.
This special ageing process is inspired by a tradition from the early 19th century.
In the 19th century, the "Navios", merchant ships, sailed to the new world, bringing French wines with them. After decanting the wine in Havana, the barrels would be filled with the finest Cuban rum for the return voyage, bringing a taste of the dark, sweet spirit back to Europe.
Over several months of sailing, stored away in the ship’s hold, the rum was allowed to develop unique aromas and rich flavors, imparted by the wine-soaked barrels.
But the war temporarily ended due to the mutually beneficial trade agreement. Until the signing of the peace treaty "El Pacto" in 1815, which marked the return of the Navios. Pacto Navio is a tribute to this story.
