February 1st, 1968 was the beginning of the manufacturing of Antioquia liquor. A man named doctor Fabio Ortega Arbeláez bought land from the government, and with his dynamic vision he started to construct the manufacturing plant. The project was finished in 1970 and April 13th of the same year the new plant was inaugurated.
The Antioquia liquor manufacturing plant is considered the first Colombian distillery. Its production systems, the quality of its products, and its successful leaders and high product turnover rate has made it a leader in Colombia.
Medellín Rum 8 years is a product obtained through the distillation of fermented grape juice and the juices of cane sugar, which are aged in oak barrels. The ageing process is natural and is guaranteed to be at least 3 years old. Medellín Rum is one of the few naturally aged rums in the world.
Ron Medellín 8 years hasn’t undergone any harsh chemical treatment, only the naturally occurring ageing process in wood barrels. Taken straight up or mixed, what’s important is to fully enjoy the flavour and texture that is Ron Medellín.
