More information Mars Kasei Blended Whisky
Mars Kasei Blended is made by the highest distillery in Japan
Mars Kasei is made by Shinshu Distillery, located in the small town of Miyada at an altitude of over 800 metres in the heart of Japan. With a large supply of spring water, the temperature is usually around 15 degrees.
The Hombo family has been creating wines and distillates in Japan for over 100 years. Whisky production began in 1949. In 1984 they decided to move whisky production to a cooler climate, so they closed their distillery in Kagoshima and built a new one in the mountains of Nagano, at an altitude of around 2600 feet (800 metres) - the Mars Shinshu Distillery. Due to some mishaps production had to be stopped in 1992.
In 2012 the distillery resumed production and in 2014 new stills were added to improve and expand production. Shinshu's treasure is the hundreds of barrels over 30 years old that remain silent in its warehouses from its first stage of production.
Shinshu was inaugurated in 1985 and only produced whisky in the winter months until 1992. From 1992 to 2012 the distillery stopped its production, so we are dealing with a modern distillery.
Mars Kasei Blended is a whisky with a perfect balance between malt and grain whiskies that are aged in different barrels (ex bourbon, ex wine...).
Kasei, which means Mars in Japanese, is a malt and grain whisky that reveals notes of flowers and aromas of ripe red fruits. It shows a singular character with a subtle smoky touch.
