Dark spiced rum.
Kraken Rum is dark spiced Caribbean rum from Trinidad and Tobago, distilled from naturally sweet molasses made from locally-grown sugar cane. Ages for 2 years and blended with a mix of 11 spices, including cinnamon, ginger and clove. The liquid is black, revealing hints of brown when held up to the light.
The bottle is styled after a Victorian rum bottle, with two hoop handles based on the tradition of hanging a bottle to prevent breakages. The bottle also has a black and white label featuring a drawing of a Kraken sea creature.

Appearance: Very dark, almost ink.Nose: Strong scent of vanilla and caramel, it opens later to the presence of licorice and brown sugar. However, the scents are very ethereal and do not seem well blended, with the spicy side often overwhelming the rest. In fact, ginger with cloves emerges, but also a scent reminiscent of gunpowder. Basically it is not evil, but the balance does not seem to have been achieved.Palate: It is very gentle and soft, with a massive presence of caramel, return of vanilla but also of the spicy side: cloves and ginger are present in flashes, next to a menthol that, at certain times, becomes predominant and invasive. Here too, the cues seem to be interesting, but the much hoped-for balance is not achieved. In truth, it often does not even seem to be a Rum, but rather a herbal infusion with a Rum base. Definitely not my thing.Final: Not very long and sometimes evanescent. However, discreetly soft and gentle.
