More information Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Whisky

Jack Daniel's Single Barrel is the result of handcrafted fine whiskey in a single barrel, individually selected, bottled and labeled for unique flavor and character.

In 1866, Jack Daniel first bottled his whiskey in earthenware jugs with cork stoppers. To distinguish his whiskey from others, he stenciled his name on the jugs. By the late 1870s, however, glass bottles became the rage. So Mr. Jack developed a standard, round, glass-mold bottle embossed with the distillery name. But Mr. Jack was an innovator, and this bottle didn't satisfy him for long. Since his charcoal-mellowed whiskey was different, he decided the bottle he put it in should be different.

In 1895, a salesman with Illinois Alton Glass Company showed Mr. Jack a unique, new, untested bottle design - a square bottle with a fluted neck. More than 100 years later, the square bottle remains a symbol for Jack Daniel's quality - full of character, just like the whiskey it holds. And proving once and for all that it's hip to be square.

Mr. Jack continued to introduce eye-catching commemorative bottles in limited quantities. Today, the distillery carries on this tradition, issuing decorative decanter bottles from time to time. Some of the bottles (such as the Gold Medal series) honor Mr. Jack's accomplishments, while others capture the spirit and style of the time they represent.

Back in 1904, a little-known distiller from rural Lynchburg won the gold medal for "the world's finest whiskey" at the World's Fair in St. Louis, Missouri. But, it didn't stop there. Throughout the years, Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 Tennessee Whiskey has continued to make friends around the world and has earned a number of other international gold medals for its excellent character.

It was once a privilege reserved for Jack Daniel's Master Distiller. Exploring the nuances of whiskey from a single barrel. Today, connoisseurs around the world can savor this experience on their own.

Jack Daniels Single Barrel

Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Tennessee Whiskey, the world's first charcoal mellowed single barrel Tennessee Whiskey, allows whiskey fans to sample the work of individual barrels, comparing the subtle differences imbued by each barrel's unique oak wood and aging experience.

What is it about one barrel that can so effortlessly create one unique flavor? Every barrel of Jack Daniel's Single Barrel absorbs its own personality and character from its charred White American Oak barrel and its special location in the warehouse.

The full flavorful character and dark amber color of Jack Daniel's Single Barrel comes, in part, from aging the whiskey barrels in the upper floors of the warehouses where the spirit enjoys a more intense maturation.

Though every bottle is charcoal mellowed and crafted by the Jack Daniel Distillery, each bottle of Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Tennessee Whiskey yields a subtle taste difference, and bears a neckband with its rick, barrel number and individual bottling date.

"With Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 we've always promised the same fine mellow sipping taste Mr. Jack first distilled, and the world has come to expect," according to Jack Daniel's Master Distiller Jimmy Bedford. "Jack Daniel's Single Barrel allows us to share with connoisseurs the individual taste of single barrels of our charcoal mellowed whiskey."
