Gramona, a family winery located in the region of Barcelona, lies at the foot of the Montserrat mountain range, on the shores of the Mediterranean, in the heart of the Penedès denomination of origin.
For more than 125 years our family has been making Cavas – very unique and highly-appreciated sparkling wines – and wines with character, which express both the original personality of our winery and the traits of the special soils that nurture our wines.

VI DE GLAS GEWÜRZTRAMINER
Taking his inspiration from the Eiswein (ice wines), made by the freezing of grapes of the wine, later cold pressing and fermentation at low temperatures, Jaume Gramona sought to produce wine of similar characteristics with grapes from a vineyard where it does not freeze during the harvest months.
Following a latest harvest, the only natural way to concentrate this must even futher is by this partial freezing, witch enables full oenological control of the process: supraextraction and cryoextraction in a cold chamber.
To do so, a yeast with an accentuated plasmolysis effect, expecially selected by the University of Burdeaux, is used. The result its a highly concentrated, fruited wine that is at one sweet and tart, endowing it with fluidity and character, aging capacity and fascinating possibilities for inbottle evolution.
